NCEA signs MoU with the Ministry of Environment of Jordan

Today the Minister of Environment, Mr Muawiya Radaideh, and Mr Rob Verheem, director of the NCEA signed an MoU for cooperation in the field of ESIA and SEA.

The MoU aims to:

• enhance the Ministry’s efforts in improving ESIA’s effectiveness;
• include SEA as a tool for integrating the environmental and social dimensions in preparation of national strategies and plans;

Speaking at the signing, H.E. Dr. Muawieh Radaideh, Minister of Environment, highlighted the importance of this collaboration between the two parties to enhance the sustainability of the natural resources, harmonize comprehensive plans and development strategies, and achieve the Sustainability pillars of the Economic Modernization vision.

Rob Verheem, Director International of the NCEA said, “Jordan’s Economic Modernisation Vision identifies sustainability as a cornerstone of this vision. The NCEA is proud and honoured to work with the Jordanian Ministry of Environment to realise the full potential of impact assessment to achieve this objective.”
